In 1991 the Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show was organized as a Chamber of
Commerce event in Woodland Park, Colorado, which is 20 miles northwest of Colorado
Springs on Highway 24.  At the first show only five cars were entered.  When the
Chamber of Commerce withdrew from sponsoring the Cruise Above the Clouds Car
Show in 1998, the Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club made a commitment to continue
it.  Since then, the Car Show has grown to a two-day show with 200 to 250 cars
participating and hundreds of spectators attending. Located in the heart of Woodland
Park near City Hall, the Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show is an annual event on the
third Saturday in September.  It is an open show that can accommodate 300 vehicles.
The net proceeds from this event are donated to local  charities.

On Saturday, September 12th, The Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club will host more
than 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles.  All staging of participants’ vehicles is on hard
surface streets.  Trailer parking is also available.  Each participant will receive a “goodie-
bag”, a T-shirt,a dash plaque and discount coupons from local merchants. All
participants are entered into a drawing for door prizes. Registration is $35 per vehicle.
Show is free to spectators.  DJ Nick Donovan will be on hand to provide entertainment
during the show along with food and merchandise vendors.   At approximately 3:00 PM,
a Poker Run to Cripple Creek will begin, followed by a “street show” on Bennett
Avenue,  Saturday evening in Cripple Creek. Lodging and many fine restaurants are
available in Cripple Creek. On Sunday, September 13th the car show will continue with a
show ‘n shine in Cripple Creek from 9:00 AM until the trophy presentations at 1:00 PM.
