LET'S CRUISE

The Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show was organized in 1991 by the Chamber of Commerce of Woodland Park, Colorado (20 miles northwest of Colorado Springs on Highway 24).  Only five cars were entered in the show that year.  When the Chamber of Commerce withdrew from sponsoring the Car Show, the Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club made a commitment to continue it. The Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club was officially organized in 1998 as a non-profit organization with a dedicated purpose of providing an annual car show for the benefit of local charities.  Since that time, the event has grown to a two-day show with 200 to 250 car participation and hundreds of spectators.  Located in the heart of Woodland Park near City Hall (Henrietta and Fairview Streets), the Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show is held annually on the third Saturday in September.  The Car Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month to plan and monitor the progress of the yearly event.  Anyone with an interest in helping with the show is invited to attend.

The Show can accommodate 300 vintage, custom or classic cars and motorcycles.  All parking is on hard surface streets and  trailer parking is also available.  All registrants are entered into the door prize drawing and receive a goodie bag which includes a t-shirt, dash plaque and discount tickets to local merchants.  A DJ provides entertainment.  Food and merchandise vendors are available to help participants and spectators enjoy the show.  Following the Woodland Park show there is a Poker run to Cripple Creek, Colorado.  Lodging and many fine restaurants are available in Cripple Creek.  Attendees cars can be left overnight on the main street (Bennett Avenue) which is secured by their Police department.  Cripple Creek hosts the continuation of the show on the following Sunday and always has very good entertainment.

Net proceeds from the annual car show are donated to local charities.  A total of $36,550 dollars has been donated for the years of 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club of Teller County, Colorado would like to humbly thank the many, many sponsors, supporters, participants, and spectators for making the 2007 Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show a tremendous success!  Because of your generosity we were able to donate a total of $13,900 to several deserving local charities, including: The American Legion, The Aspen Mine Center, The Community Cupboard, Help the Needy, The Kiwanis Club, Prospect Home Health Care, The Rotary Club, and The Teller Senior Coalition.

Our Mission as a Car Club is to promote Teller County in a positive light, provide quality entertainment for the entire family, expose our local merchants to new customers, while reflecting the values instilled in our community.  Of the 205 entrants in this year's Cruise Above the Clouds, it is important to note that 115 of those entrants were "first-timers" to our show.  Of equal importance is the fact that we have received "zero" complaints relative to the show.  Conversely, we have received many compliments, and many, many of the participants expressed their astonishment at just how beautiful Woodland Park is, how wonderful the show was, and vowed to return next year...with friends!

You, our loyal supporters and friends, make this possible for us.  THANK YOU!

Sincerely,
Harry Catrell, President
